Twitter has updated its mobile webapp to boost connection speeds with low-bandwidth areas and older devices.

According to Twitter the new mobile web site lets feature phone users see all the Tweets from the followed accounts in the Home tab, check @mentions in the Connect tab, see what's trending in the Discover tab, and access direct messages and Tweets in the Me tab. Twitter says the mobile app is fast, and consumes two-thirds as much data as the previous web site.

A statement by Twitter read: “We’re rolling out this new mobile web experience starting (Monday, May 7) and will continue to make Twitter the most accessible way to connect with the world, even with the weakest signals and the simplest devices.”

Airtel today announced it has launched its 4G LTE services in Bengaluru, which becomes the second city in the country after Kolkata to get a 4G network. Apart from the plans already announced in Kolkata, Airtel today announced a new plan that will offer users 30GB of data for Rs 2,999 a month. Users of both Rs 1,999 plan (18GB) and Rs 2,999 will get a cash back offer when they purchase either the multi-mode LTE modem (Rs 7,999) or the indoor CPE with Wi-Fi module (Rs 7,750).
