Facebook unveils file-sharing for Groups

Facebook unveils file-sharing for Groups

The social network has unveiled a new feature for all those 380 million people who use Facebook Groups. All Groups users now have the ability to send files to fellow group members. The update will start rolling out today to a few users and will later be and will eventually become available for other users.

This file-sharing feature was introduced by Facebook last month. However it was for Groups for Schools and only worked for those who have an .edu address. Now it seems Facebook has decided to make it available for all its users.

Users can send most of the file types of up to 25MB in size. There are few expectations though as users will not be able to send music files and executable (.exe) files. Most other files types other for e-books, comic books, small movies are accepted and can be shared across the group.

Facebook has also a feature to report files to prevent spreading malicious, inappropriate and copyrighted files. But it seems that this would be the Groups decision to turn in such files.
