Android Phones in India to Get Free 3G Courtesy Google and Reliance

Newly purchased Android smartphones in the country are reportedly going to come with a free 3G plan for six months, thanks to deal between Reliance and Google. The Times of India says that devices will come bundled with a Reliance 3G connection with 1GB of data for free.  This offer goes into effect on April 14 and  will be applicable to HTC, Sony, LG, and Samsung handsets and notable there is no mention of Motorola in the list, which ironically is being acquired by Google.

Consumers choosing to go ahead with the Reliance-Android bundled subscription offer, will get a data plan allowing 1GB of free downloads for the first six months. Of course, those who do not want a new connection, or a Reliance Communication connection, can always buy the device without the bundled offer.
Reliance Communication and Google will apparently be spending roughly Rs. 30-crore each on promoting the offer, with Reliance set to promote Android devices in general, and an online campaign by Google, supposed to show the green Android mascot turning Reliance Communication’s blue.
